PUSHING THE BOUNDARIES OF LED VIRTUAL PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGY

Bendac is currently involved in the construction of the world’s second largest LED volume, based in the UK. While this isn’t the largest, it is probably the most advanced, with both a raisable/tiltable LED ceiling and uniquely a raisable LED wall too. In addition it will offer an encoded rotating stage, and both High Dynamic Range (HDR) and High Frame Rate (HFR) for capability. The LED volume utilises state-of-the-art LED tiles delivering double the refresh rate (15,360 Hz) of other tiles, and the largest colour gamut yet achieved by any sub-2mm tile of 99.2% of DCI-P3.

CAPABILITIES

Bendac can supply LED volume-only solutions, or complete LED Virtual Production studios system engineered from design to delivery. Both are available with comprehensive SLA support packages.

Our design service includes the following options:

Any shaped LED volume – ‘J’-shape, curve, elliptical semi-circle, 270
Raisable/tiltable LED ceiling, encoded rotating stage, raisable LED wall (unique)
Colour calibrated ‘Unreal to camera’ pipeline
Flexible VP workflows – ICVFX, green frustum/re-rendering
Scalable LED processing, scalable Unreal processing – for HDR or HFR
External lighting grids with ‘physical to virtual’ synchronising
LED Reflector panels or pixel-mapped lighting

LED VIRTUAL PRODUCTION CRAFT TRAINING

We take training seriously. We understand that as complex and challenging as building a large LED volume is, its actually the training of the operators and creatives that ultimately determines how successful a LED volume will run.

As such we’ve designed (in conjunction with a commercial London-based LED VP studio) an on-set LED VP training course that teaches the craft of shooting in an LED volume. Its designed to enable operators and creatives to get the very best imaging out of the volume, and importantly, how to achieve the time and money savings that virtual production offers. The combination is the foundation for creating repeat bookings !

The course is 5 days long, delivered on-set in an LED volume, and runs through VP cinematography, In-camera visual effects (ICVFX), Visual Art Department (VAD), VP workflows, colour calibrated pipelines, and finishes with a test shoot.

Each course can take a maximum of 6 attendees, and courses are run based on LED VP project progress.
